- MSYS Log File Analyzer
-
- Several new features have been added to the LFA. Upon
- startup you are asked if you want a hard copy and if you
- want the bell rung when the log file has finished being read.
- This is useful when reading very long log files. You are then
- asked if you want to read the entire log or a partial log. If
- you wish to read a partial log you will be asked for the
- beginning date and time and then the ending date and time. You
- MUST!!! enter the time and it must be separated by colons! The
- date may be separated with whatever character you like. The
- format is MM/DD/YY HH:MM:SS
-
- example 2/26/90 0:00:00
- 2-26-90 23:59:59
-
- Once the log has been read, a MENU is displayed from which any of 8
- reports and 2 functions can be run individually.
-
- 0 displays a system report of restarts, quits,
- total connects, and total disconnects.
-
- 1 displays a report showing the activities of
- each station that has connected.
-
- 2 displays a report of messages received, forwarded,
- and killed by type. Also reports the number of
- messages received by size, in addition to totals for
- messages received, killed, forwarded, read, and
- rejected. Also displayed is the traffic recieved and
- forwarded/killed by port.
-
- 3 reports percentage of connects per day and per hour.
- Percentage of connects per hour are based on time
- stamps found in the log and therefore reflect your
- system clock. ie local time or GMT.
-
- 4 displays connects and disconnects for each user on
- each port. This is done for ports 0 through 5 if the
- total number of active ports is 6 or more, or for
- ports 0 through 6 if no more than 6 ports are active.
- Both connects and disconnects are displayed to show
- path reliability. Local Console connects are shown
- separately at the bottom.
-
- 5 is only available if all 7 ports have been active. it
- also displays connects and disconnects but only for
- those users heard on port 7.
-
- 6 lists the messages received but not killed.
-
- 7 displays the number of times a message has been read
- and the most recent date it was read.
-
- 8 prints reports 0 through 7 all at once.
-
- 9 toggles printer on and off
-
- 99 quits
-
-
- I have also added the ability to accept command line arguments to
- suppress the start-up prompts. They are:
-
- -r enables the bell to ring after reading the log.
-
- -p produces a hard copy of the report
-
- -x suppresses start-up prompts but doesn't do any fancy stuff.
-
- "-b MM/DD/YY HH:MM:SS" allows entering of the beginning date.
-
- "-e MM/DD/YY HH:MM:SS" allows entering of the ending date.
-
- NOTE: The last two must be entered completely in the form given.
- Complete with quotes!
